Changing Things

So January...Hello

This month has been weird . My J-term class is over...early actually. But only after two three hour sessions every day. Boo. It was fun, but so hard. It also seems like every week is the same. The week starts out great, then it is just busy, busy stress stress, something goes wrong...freak out..weekend...repeat. And right now things are no different. Oh yes, just throw in my infected left ear. My gauge got infected and now my ear is all crazy. I am on all kinds of meds now, the nurse said that the haling process would take a while, but I need it to be done now. My ear is oozing constantly, and I have to keep this head band thing on to hold gauze in place. I can't touch the area around the infection because of dirty fingers of course (and the fact that this thing is "contagious"), but it itches like mad. It sucks, It is also kind of humorous. I mean, I constantly have this goofy headband on.. That is funny right? Also school is starting and this was not how I expected to begin my last semester of school. But I guess I didn't expect to be married by now either? So there are good things, and I am trying to dwell on those. Being in school and being married is hard, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I love Bethany and we are growing every day. You have to expect growth, if you think things will stay the way they are, what ever relationship you may be in, you are in for some trouble.

Things are also weird because for the last three and a half years I sort of always could expect what was coming up next. I knew what I was doing in the summer, I knew what classes I was going to take, I knew who was in those classes, and who I would be living with and everything. But now, I am graduating. And jumping into seeming nothingness. I know this is something that every graduate goes through, so I am trying not to freak out too much. It is just weird.

I always thought that that it was dumb how older people would stress out me and my friends near the end of highschool. They were always saying, "You have to have a plan!," "You need to know what you are doing with your life!," "You can't do that, how will you make money?," and other sorts of crap. Look, I am graduating college and I still don't know what I want. Most of my graduating friends are in the same boat. Why can't you just let us be? Let us learn, let us grow. I am such a different person that when I came to school as a freshman, if I had made that plan, I would of shattered it out of frustration. God has been good, he has a plan. Isn't that good enough? Well, it has to be. Work hard, be open to the Lord...how else can you live life?

Now a Genius

I just did my first successful Sudoku puzzle. I am a genius.

Anyway, Christmas was fantastic! As my first Christmas as a married man, I would have to say it was one of my favorite Chirstmases. The grandparents came down, and we just had a great time. I was able to pound my younger siblings in a few nice games of Settlers of Cattan actually Audrey did win once. If I can learn anything from my younger sibs it is persistence and doing it because they love it, no matter what. My poor brother, he would either get close to winning or he would struggle the whole time, but he never won. However he just wanted to play, no matter how bad it got, he just loves the game. How inspiring.

My 5 year old sister's new favorite movie is now Charlie Brown's Christmas, I think I saw it twice just walking in and out of the living room.

Bethany and I both gave eachother great presents. I received a game for my DS. "Cooking Mama," it sounds cheesy, and in a way it is...basically it is a cooking game. Points and new recipes are received for performing different cooking techniques using the stylus and touch screen. Don't get me wrong, the game is a blast, and I just love those weird little games by those nice developers over in Japan...

cooking

Yes, that is a squid. And I am now a master at every thing from instant raman to shrimp rice in chile sauce...

I also received some cool black plugs with white stars at the ends, gauged 2 now. That is as far as I am going... at two they say you can always go back...we shall see.

I also got an arm band for....an ipod! Yes, an ipod from my folks. Woo hoo. Now it is only 1GB, however it has plenty of room for the only songs that I would actually listen too anyway. I already made a mix for working out and studying and what not. I have officially entered the world of cool. I will place my included apple stickers with much pomp and circumstance.

For Bethany, I delved into the womanly underworld and actually purchased her clothing. There were some things she needed, like black pants, but I also got for her a few tops and some nice black heels (her "grown-up" shoes;).

So I will have to say I was nervous, but it was a sucsess, and a grand sucsess it was!!

BEWARE!! BLACK FRIDAY LOOMS NEAR!!!

so Friday is the infamous black friday.

I will say that you need to get up at 5 am and stand inline at least once in your life. I mean come on...the rush, the excitement. People do stupider things with much higher risk of injury.

However the last time I went to take part in the post-tday mob some lady fell and broker her elbow after fighting over some sort of dumb doll probably.

Yes, I have taken part in black friday. I bought a computer. It is a great computer still....needs a new screen, but it is working still. I also tried to get some cds once. Best Buy had this deal that was like two cds for eight bucks. I was wanting to purchase "Room on Fire," by the Strokes and No Doubt's singles album..yes this was a few years ago. So I was a little late to stand in line, the place had opened already, so I walked in, found my cd's with ease and then walked to my place in line....somewhere by the dryers. Did you know best buy had dryers? Well they do, and they are located in best buy in such a place that if you are standing in a line near them looking for an opportunity to make it through check out, you are a sad, sorry, soul. I realized this, promptly placing the cd's inside of a stacking washer/dryer unit, and left.

But none the less, black friday is a unique opportunity to observe the human condition. You know that America is in a good state when people will beat eachother up for a 10th anniversary tickle me elmo. Or even the fact that there is a 10th annerversery tickle me elmo. What the frick. That is all I can say...what..the...frick...

I might partake this year, but only to get in the way. I believe that would be fun. Just to be apart of the absurd occasion and add to the zaniness. Make my way to sporting goods, grab a tennis racket and a baseball helmet and have at it.I also thought about collecting hot items in a shopping cart and making people pay me for them. To do that I would probably have to upgrade from tennis racket to hockey stick or something.

What else is new?

So Last night was trunk or treat. I became much colder than I had thought. You can only stay so warm dressed as a turtle. Being cold blooded and all...

Anyway, Life right now is outstanding. I did however fill as if I were sinking just about a week ago, but since then I was able to trim somethings out of my life (sadly...you know it is those things you love that kill you), and now I feel like a new person. One thing I worked out was to voice track my show's first hour, now I can get up at 6:20 instead of 5:20...woohoo.

Bethany and I are great, there aren't enough hours in the day though. I just want to spend more time with her.  Being married and in school is an adventure, seeing how much money is left over (or not left over) after bills are paid is always interesting. But in a short while I will be rolling in the dough at a church somewhere. (sarcasm implied)

Halfway throught the semester. 3/4 of my seinor year is done....crazy
